Martin Walker

Martin Walker | Head of UK Equities, Invesco

Martin is Head of the Henley-based UK Equities team and manages the Invesco UK Opportunities Fund (UK) and the Invesco UK Equity Fund (Lux). Martin began his investment career in 1997 after previous experience as an investment analyst with BWD Rensburg.  Martin joined Invesco in 1999 as a junior fund manager and has developed his career within the Henley-based UK Equities team, managing UK equity portfolios since 2003.  He has managed the Invesco UK Opportunities Fund (UK) since 2008 and was appointed Head of the UK Equities Team in May 2020. Martin holds a BA in Financial Economics from Liverpool University and has also attained the Securities Institute Diploma

Karen Ward

Karen Ward | Managing Director, J.P. Morgan Asset Management

Karen Ward, managing director, is the Chief Market Strategist for EMEA at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Karen has considerable experience in both public policymaking, and economic and financial analysis. Before joining the team in 2017, she was Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers for the Chancellor of the Exchequer. In this role she advised the Chancellor on macroeconomic issues including fiscal strategy and Brexit. Prior to this she worked for a decade at HSBC’s investment bank in a number of roles, including Senior Global Economist where her work included "The World in 2050 – An Analysis of the Structural Changes Affecting the Global Economy and the Rise of the Emerging Economies." She was Chief European Economist before leaving to work for the Chancellor in 2016. She started her career at the Bank of England providing supporting analysis for the Monetary Policy Committee. Karen has a Masters with Distinction in Economics from University College London.

Rory Sandilands

Rory Sandilands | Portfolio manager, Aegon Asset Management

Rory Sandilands, Portfolio Manager, is a member of the Aegon Asset Management investment grade and multi-sector portfolio management teams. He co-manages the Absolute Return Bond, the Investment Grade Bond and the Global Short Dated Climate Transition strategies. Prior to his current role, Rory was a vice president in credit sales at Goldman Sachs. In addition, he has also worked in credit sales for Morgan Stanley and in fixed income sales for Merrill Lynch. He has extensive experience working with both cash bonds and derivative products across the full ratings spectrum. He has been in the industry since 1998 and started with Aegon AM in 2016. Rory received his honours degree in Law with Accountancy from the University of Edinburgh

Michael Biemann

Michael Biemann | Product Strategist, PIMCO

Mr. Biemann is a senior vice president and fixed income strategist in the London office. He initially joined PIMCO in 2010, and previously worked as an associate on the emerging markets team and in the executive office. Prior to rejoining the firm in 2020, he was Founding Angel and CEO of the U.K. lender Selina Finance, and a strategy consultant for the Boston Consulting Group. He has also served in the U.S. Treasury Department in the Office of the Middle East and North Africa, worked as a teaching fellow of finance at Harvard University, and was an assistant to Dr. Carmen Reinhart. He has 10 years of investment and financial services experience and holds a master’s degree in economic policy from Harvard University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida.

David Ennett

David Ennett | Fund Manager, Artemis

David joined Artemis in February 2019 from Kames Capital, where he was Head of High Yield. Prior to this he was Head of European High Yield at Standard Life Investments and previously a high yield portfolio manager at Old Mutual Asset Managers in London. David began his career in leveraged finance with roles in banking in Sydney with NAB, and in London with RBS and CIBC. He graduated from the Australian National University with a degree in Political Science and Economics in 2001 and is a CFA charterholder. He co-manages Artemis‘ ‘global high yield‘ strategies, the bonds component of Artemis‘ ‘monthly distribution‘ strategy and Artemis‘ ‘high income‘ strategy.

Mike Riddell | Allianz Global Investors

Mike Riddell | Head of Macro Unconstrained Fixed Income Team - Allianz Global Investors

Mike joined Allianz Global Investors in 2015 as a senior portfolio manager and has 22 years’ experience in fixed income markets. Mike is head of AllianzGI's Macro Unconstrained Fixed Income Team and is the lead portfolio manager on the Allianz Gilt Yield, Allianz Strategic Bond and Allianz Index-Linked Gilt Fund. Prior to joining AllianzGI, Mike worked with M&G in London for 12 years running bond portfolios, and prior to that at Premier Asset Management. As well as depth of experience, Mike’s experience has breadth, including not only UK Bonds but also emerging markets and global mandates.

Philip Scott | Baillie Gifford

Philip Scott | Investment Specialist, Baillie Gifford

Philip is a investment specialist manager in the Balanced Team. He joined Baillie Gifford in 2014 on the investment operations graduate programme and moved to the Clients Department after a brief spell with the firm’s Performance Analysis Team. Philip graduated MA (Hons) in Business and Finance from Heriot-Watt University in 2014.

Dominic O'Connell | Moderator

Dominic is the business presenter of the Radio 4 Today Programme. He was formerly Business Editor of The Sunday Times, since 2010, and joined the paper in 2001. Before that, he was part of the launch team of Sunday Business. Under his editorship, the paper broke a series of big business stories including the news of BHS's pending administration, and previously the Pfizer bid for Astra Zeneca, the largest ever attempted takeover of a British company. As well as his role on the Today Programme, Dominic also appears regularly on Business Live on BBC World News and the News Channel, on World Service Radio business output, and contributes to the online business pages.

Peter Bye | UBS Asset Management

Peter Bye is the Lead Portfolio Manager and Head of UBS Asset Management's US Large and Mid-Cap Growth Equity team. He is also Portfolio Manager for the Digital Transformation Equity strategy, a Global Growth Equity strategy. In addition to his portfolio management responsibilities, Peter is responsible for analysis and issue selection in the health care sector. Peter joined UBS Asset Management in 2010 after twelve years in equity research on the sell side covering health care sectors at Cowen & Co., Citigroup, Wachovia and most recently at Jefferies and Co. where he was mentioned as one of the Best on the Street in the 2010 Wall Street Journal survey. Prior to his equity research career, Peter worked in the quantitative research department at Putnam Investments in Boston, analyzing portfolio strategies, risk, security modeling, and performance attribution among the companies taxable fixed income groups.

Chris McGoldrick | Stewart Investors

Chris McGoldrick | Stewart Investors

Joined Stewart Investors Asian Equity team in September 2013. Previously, Chris worked for a London-based investment bank where he was a research sales specialist in Asian equities. Before that he worked as an analyst at Baillie Gifford and Edinburgh Fund Managers. Chris has an MSc in Finance and a First Class Honours degree from the University of Edinburgh.

Before joining Jupiter in 2015, Jason worked at Newton, where he headed the Asian equities team and managed a number of funds, including an Asian equity income fund from 2005 until 2015. Prior to this, Jason was responsible for stock selection and asset allocation in the Asia ex-Japan region for the BP Pension Fund. Jason began his investment career investing in the Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) region in 1993 at Henderson.

Based in Henley-on-Thames, Stuart is responsible for a number of global bond, emerging market, and cash portfolios. Stuart began his investment career in 1997 at Standard & Poor’s as an economist, initially specialising in analysis of the Benelux region and then covering the UK fixed income and money markets with responsibility for forecasting UK economic data and providing fixed income strategy. On joining our company in 2003, he was initially the fixed income specialist within our Investment Communication team before successfully transferring to the Henley-based Fixed Interest team in January 2006 as a fixed income strategist, specialising in the analysis of macro economic data and trends. In March 2010 Stuart was promoted to the role of fund manager.

Vince Childers, CFA, is Head of Real Assets Multi-Strategy and a portfolio manager for Cohen & Steers’ real assets strategy. Prior to joining the firm in 2013, Mr. Childers was a portfolio manager for real asset strategies at AllianceBernstein, where he co-managed a research team overseeing $2.3 billion in assets. Previously, Mr. Childers was an associate in the financial advisory services department of Houlihan Lokey. Mr. Childers has an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and a BS from Vanderbilt University. He is based in New York.

Pietro Nicholls | RM Funds

Pietro Nicholls is the lead portfolio manager of the VT RM Alternative Income fund; Global Real Opportunities fund and co-founder of the Investment Trust RMII PLC. Mr. Nicholls is also a member of the Investment Committee and Board of RM Capital Markets. Pietro started his career at Bear Stearns, working at JP Morgan and Barclays Corporate & Investment Banking, before launching the RM Funds investment business in 2015. Mr. Nicholls is also the Chairman of Empowered Brands, one of the UK’s largest franchise royalty investment businesses, having joined the Board in 2020.

Alexander Chartres, Investment Director joined Ruffer in 2010 after graduating from Newcastle University with a first class honours degree in history and politics. In 2012, he became a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, achieving a merit in the Private Client Advice and Management paper. He specialises in geopolitics and its investment implications, with a particular focus on European politics and US-China relations. He is co-manager of two of Ruffer‘s flagship funds.

Stewart joined RSMR in August 2011 and has played a key role in the development of the market-leading RSMR ratings service and also manages a large number of bespoke advisory portfolios on behalf of a wide range of IFA clients. He is lead Portfolio Manager for the Rfolios discretionary portfolios having been involved since their launch as well as the management of the preceding advisory portfolios from their launch back in 2015. Stewart joined RSMR from Honister Capital where he was part of the internal research team responsible for fund and product research, including construction of the recommended fund and product lists for the company’s financial advisers involving, amongst other aspects, face-to-face meetings with fund managers and attending conferences.

Alex Funk

Alex has many years of financial services experience which ranges from discretionary fund management, corporate finance, banking, capital raising, private equity to venture capital. Alex started managing a discretionary fund management business in South Africa and Mauritius, where he designed and managed model portfolios for financial advisers and wealth management firms across the world. Alex has extensive experience in managing multi-asset portfolios in the UK and is responsible for a range of portfolios and funds. Alex holds a Bcom Honours in Financial Analysis (Cum Laude) from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and is a CFA Charterholder.

James Mahon

James Mahon | Church House Investments

James founded Church House Investments in 1999 and was CEO until he stepped down at the beginning of 2021. He remains a board director and is CIO, managing global and UK equity mandates and co-managing our multi-asset absolute return fund.

Eva Sun-Wai

Eva Sun-Wai became the lead manager on the Global Government Bond strategy and deputy manager on the Global Macro Bond strategy in January 2021. Since September 2019, Eva had been a junior macro fund manager in the Wholesale Fixed Income team, where her role involved implementing macroeconomic trade ideas in the Global Macro Bond and the Absolute Return Bond strategies. She joined M&G in 2018 on the Investment Graduate Scheme, rotating across several business areas including emerging market debt, corporate credit research, real estate and long-term investment strategy

Jo Rands | Martin Currie UK Equity

Jo Rands | Martin Currie UK Equity

Jo Rands is a portfolio manager and research analyst in the Martin Currie UK Equity team, focusing on large cap UK equities. Jo is co-manager on FTF Martin Currie UK Managers’ Focus Fund and portfolio manager on the FTF Martin Currie UK Equity Income Fund, FTF Martin Currie UK Rising Dividend Fund, FTF Martin Currie UK Opportunities Fund and the Franklin UK Equity Income Fund. She joined the team in September 2021.

Previously, Jo was a UK Equity Portfolio Manager at Rathbone Unit Trust Management, part of Rathbone Brothers plc. Prior to this, she held roles in UK equity sales and portfolio management at several firms including Hermes and HSBC. Jo began her career in 1999, working in a graduate role at Brewin Dolphin in Leeds.

Jo has a first-class BSc (Hons) degree in Geography from the University of Nottingham. She holds the Securities Institute Diploma.
